USTA national wheelchair championships

The U.S. Open USTA National Wheelchair Championships is the premiere wheelchair tennis tournament in the United States and one of the most prestigious events in the wheelchair sports world. For 2005, the tournament will take place October 4th through October 9th and actually encompasses four events:
- U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships
- Junior Wheelchair Tennis Championships
- Senior Doubles Wheelchair Tennis Championships
- Mixed Doubles Wheelchair Tennis Championships
The tournament will be held at the acclaimed George E. Barnes Family Junior Tennis Center (4490 West Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA). The Barnes Center is ideally suited for a wheelchair tennis tournament of this magnitude, and enhances the appeal and abiance of the event.
Additionally, a free wheelchair tennis clinic and day of fun for local youth and adults with physical disabilties will be held on Saturday, October 8th. This year marks the 26th year of the tournament, and the 7th year in San Diego.
This illustrious tournament is a world-class event and will attract approximately 200 players, as well as numerous coaches, family members, friends, and countless spectators. It is sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association (a USTA national championship) and the International Tennis Federation (super series event). Thus, local, national and international players of all skill levels will be in attendance and vying for the coveted title of U.S. Open Champion
